Thank you for pointing me to this wonderful essay, Eliza. Goodness, yes! Tracey Emin had nothing on your mum!

My parents’ bed was not used as a bed after about 1975, so you can imagine the excavation that went on to unearth it after they died. I felt emotional seeing that room stripped back, remembering nights as a child when I was scared and would cuddle in between my mum and dad.

So pleased to discover your writing in memory of your mum.
